
Daniel Tu’utau – BA, MM, DMA
Daniel Tu‘utau is a baritone, educator, and media artist originally from Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Hollywood High School Performing Arts Academy and, as a child, toured internationally with the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Utah.
Dr. Tu‘utau has been deeply involved in Utah’s vibrant opera and theater community for over a decade. With Utah Opera, he has performed comprimario roles such as Count Ceprano in Rigoletto and has appeared in more than twenty productions including Thaïs, La Bohème, The Pirates of Penzance, and The Barber of Seville. He has also appeared frequently with Lyrical Opera Theater, performing major baritone roles such as Doctor Bartolo in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Simone in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca, Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Rigoletto in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, and Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen.
His additional credits include work with Ogden’s NEXT Ensemble (Amahl and the Night Visitors), and principal roles with the University of Utah’s Lyric Opera Ensemble, including Pandolphe (Cendrillon), the Count (Le Nozze di Figaro), Mr. Ford (Falstaff), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Reverend Olin Blitch (Susannah), and the title role in Don Giovanni. Other past roles include Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Stefano (Viva La Mamma), and the Duke of Plaza-Toro (The Gondoliers).
Dr. Tu‘utau previously served as an assistant professor of music in voice at Brigham Young University–Hawaii, where he also coordinated the vocal area and taught courses in diction, pedagogy, and performance. He has also taught voice at the University of Utah in the Department of Theatre.
Now based once again in Utah, Dr. Tu‘utau continues to perform professionally and serves in various civic and artistic capacities within the community. He also operates DB Productions Utah, providing photography, videography, and digital design services to artists, organizations, and businesses across the Wasatch Front.
He lives in Utah with his wife, Brandy, and their four children.

Beyond his musical pursuits, Daniel is deeply committed to his community and faith. As an active member of his church, he finds joy in service and leadership, using his talents to uplift others. His dedication to civic engagement also reflects his passion for making a positive impact, whether through volunteering or supporting local initiatives.
In addition to his performance and community work, Daniel is a co-founder of DB Productions, a creative company specializing in photo, video, and design. His work with DB Productions allows him to merge his artistic vision with entrepreneurial drive, delivering exceptional services that capture and create lasting memories for clients.
